GeekBox TV Box Running Android & Ubuntu Powered by Rockchip RK3368 with MXM3 Interface

Geekbuying, a well known company that sell a large range of electronic devices such as phones, tablets and tv boxes online have announced a new TV Box called the GeekBox.

What is the Geekbox?

The GeekBox is a mini computer running Android and Ubuntu that can turn your TV into a Smart TV. Allowing you to easily view movies, play games or browse the internet on the big screen. The Geekbox is also compatiable with media players like XMBC and Plex. Apps like Skype and Netflix can also be run in both Android and Ubuntu. The device can be controlled with a remote, wireless keyboard and/or touchpad.

Using the MXM3 Interface it is possible to turn the GeekBox into a development board by connecting it to the Landingship Board. The development board can be used to create devices such as a digital photo frame, router, or even a projector.

While the development side of the TV Box may not be suited for everyone. The device is capable of playing a wide variety of media including 4K, H.265, OPENGL ES 3.1 and HDMI 2.0 @ 60Hz. It is also capable running a wide variety of apps and games due to the Rockchip RK3368 chipset. The ability to boot into Android or Ubuntu is bonus as most TV boxes are only running Android or Windows.
