Kaleido Gemini is a dual SIM iPhone Case

Apple have never embraced the concept of having a dual SIM phone and with many Android handsets now coming with dual SIM functionality, it’s about time the iPhone got the same treatment. In the past a lot of companies have tried (and failed) to solve this problem by releasing external adapters and bulky iPhone cases. Now a company in China have released an inexpensive and thin dual SIM case known as the Kaleido Gemini.

The Kaleido Gemini takes a Nano SIM card that works in dual standby mode. Currently the case is only available for the iPhone 6, 6s and 6 Plus running iOS 7 or higher. The additional SIM card is controlled with an app through Bluetooth. The app acts like the iPhone dialer and allows you to send or receive calls and SMS.

The case is made from PC + TPU and measures only 2mm with a weight of 20 grams. Inside you’ll find a Bluetooth chip and a 50mAh battery to power it. Anteplus claim that the battery will last 21 days and a proprietary charging clip is used to recharge the battery. It’s quite amazing to see so much fit in one small case.

Currently it only supports China Unicorn SIM cards and M1 M Cards which rules out international compatibility. This is probably a limitation of their app instead of the case and could be modified to work for all carriers. Having any SIM work would be perfect for overseas travel to avoid roaming charges.

At this stage the Kaleido Gemini iPhone case isavailable at Taobao for ¥199.00 ($29.75 US) and probably won’t be available in the international markets any time soon.
