Today Tronsmart announced a Qi wireless charger with fast charging called the Tronsmart Chocolate.
Wireless fast charging is a new technology that can charge your device up to 1.4x faster than standard wireless charging. Currently the technology is only being utilised by Samsung in select models of their phones. Namely the Samsung S7 Edge Plus, S7, S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5.
All other Qi compatible devices will utilise standard wireless charging.
The Tronsmart Chocolate is backwards compatiable and supports standard wireless charging. The input for fast charge is 9V/1.67A with an output of 9V/1,2A (10W Max) while input of standard charge is 5V/2A with an output of 5V/1A. Even though the amps are lower in fast charging compared to the standard, it’s able to charge faster due to the higher voltage.
To take full advantage of the fast charging, Tronsmart have recommend using a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 or Quick Charge 2.0 charger.
You might be wondering why Tronsmart decided to call this the Tronsmart Chocolate? The charging pad has anti-slip silica gel grooves on it to keep your phone secure while charging. The grooves make it resemble a block of chocolate and that’s how it got its name.
The outside shell has been made of fire resistant PC and ABS materials to withstand temperatures up to 120C / 250F degrees. The device also has a frosted surface to prevent scratching. It also includes the other standard safety features like short circuit protection.
Other features include an LED indictator that turns blue when the charging pad is turned on, green when the device is charging and blue and green when the device is fully charged. The dimensions of the Tronsmart Chocolate is 100mm (L) x 60mm (W) x 9mm (H) which should be small enough to fit in a pocket.
